Rule No. 1 about NBA coaching hires: Don't talk about NBA coaching hires.

At least while the candidate you're considering bringing on as coach is still playing in the league. New York Knicks coach Phil Jackson has been fined $25,000 for tampering with Oklahoma City Thunder guard Derek Fisher.

Fisher, who is set to retire after a 19-year career, has been rumored as a candidate for several NBA coaching or front office positions. ESPN's Marc Stein said that the fine stems from Jackson mentioning Fisher last week as a possibility to coach the Knicks.

It was also reported Monday that the Lakers have interest in speaking with Fisher about their head coaching position in the upcoming weeks.
