Is the Baker Mayfield-to-Oklahoma saga over before it's even truly started?

RedRaiderSports.com's tweeted out Friday that the former Texas Tech quarterback had his appeal to the school denied. Mayfield was lobbying to Texas Tech to have its transfer restrictions dropped since he wasn't a scholarship athlete while in Lubbock.

Following RedRaiderSports' tweet, several other followed with confirmation, including Eric Bailey of the Tulsa World.
Before Friday's verdict, Mayfield still planned on enrolling at OU, but a denied appeal may change things.
