The Houston Chronicle reports that the University of Houston will open the 2016 season against Oklahoma in the Advocare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium in Houston.
LSU and Wisconsin will play in this year's game, while Texas A&M and Arizona State are slated to play in the 2015 edition. Oklahoma State and Mississippi State played in the inaugural Advocare Texas Kickoff in 2013, which OSU won 21-3.
Houston and OU have only met twice, with the Sooners winning both times -- 40-14 in the 1981 Sun Bowl and 63-13 in Norman in 2004.
The Sooners are tentatively scheduled to play 2016 non-conference games against Louisiana-Monroe and Ohio State, both in Norman.See this story on blog.chron.com
