The Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Caron Butler, sources told Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojanarowski.

Butler's contract was bought out by the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday morning and the veteran foward is expected to clear waivers and become a free agent.

The addition of Butler could help the Thunder depth in the upcoming weeks. With Kendrick Perkins out, the Thunder could utilize more small-ball lineups, and Butler could be added to the mix.

San Antonio and Chicago are in pursuit and plan to make pitches for Butler too, league sources told Wojanarowski.

Butler has averages of 15.3 points per game in his 12-year career.
