LAWTON — A fire Friday at Republic Paperboard Co. has been burning for several hours, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 4 p.m. at the company, 8801 SW Lee Blvd., and it was still burning as of 7 p.m., Lawton fire Capt. Eric Troutman said.
Troutman said the fire was contained to an area outside the plant where stacks of cardboard are stored before being taken inside for processing.
No injuries or structural damage had been reported, he said.
The American Red Cross of Central and Western Oklahoma sent volunteers to provide food and water to about 30 first responders at the scene, said Rusty Surette, a Red Cross spokesman.
There also was a fire at the plant in late 2011, Troutman said.
