Republicans' ideas on health care reform ignored

Published: August 12, 2013

Supporters of Obamacare who assert that the Republicans have offered no ideas to combat medical costs either forgot, or are unaware of, a televised meeting between the president and a number of Republicans on medical reform. It was held before Obamacare was passed and after the president had said he would listen to alternative ideas.

On the program there were 15 to 20 people seated at a U-shaped table with Barack Obama at the head of the table. U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was there along with Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, and another doctor from the Senate and others. Coburn and the other doctor did most of the talking and provided a wealth of good ideas on reforming the high costs of medical care.

After the meeting, the president thanked those present and left, never to mention those ideas or admit that they ever existed.
