Requirements to become a reserve deputy with the Oklahoma County sheriff's office
To become a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Oklahoma County sheriff's office, one must meet the following requirements:
• Complete the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Application.
• Be a U.S. Citizen.
• Pass a thorough background investigation, including a criminal records search and fingerprint search.
• Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Possess a valid Oklahoma operator driver's license or higher.
• Be gainfully employed, retired or a full-time student.
• Subscribe to the oath of affirmation of allegiance to the Oklahoma County sheriff's office and the citizens of Oklahoma County.
• Be in good physical condition and free from disease or defects that would interfere with the satisfactory performance of the duties of this position.
• Participate in a personal aptitude interview with the reserve division major, reserve division captain and a reserve division peer.
• Undergo a physical, by a medical doctor, and be medically cleared for participation.
• Undergo an MMPI and CPI psychological evaluation, which is paid for by the reserve applicant and administered by a psychologist, and cleared for participation.
• Possess a valid CPR and first aid certification.
• Successfully complete the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office CLEET Basic Reserve Academy, which runs about 10 months.
