Residents are being asked to conserve water by voluntarily adopting an odd/even watering schedule for their lawns and outdoor plants, city officials said.

Residents with addresses that end in an even number are asked to water only on even-numbered days, and residents with addresses that end in odd numbers are asked to water on odd-numbered days, city spokesman Scott Martin said.
As an added measure, residents are asked to water before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m., rather than during the hottest part of the day.
A regional drought last fall and winter has left many cities facing possible water shortages this summer, City Manager Brad Gambill said.
If current hot temperatures continue and the city gets no rain, Norman may have to adopt more stringent conservation methods as the summer progresses, Gambill said.
