A man forced a woman working at a restaurant into a restroom at gunpoint, ordered her to strip and raped her before stealing her car Sunday, police said.
Police arrested a man an hour later after he crashed the victim's car into a tree, police said. John Murphy, 29, was arrested on numerous complaints including rape.
The woman told police the rape happened about 10:30 a.m. in a strip mall restaurant near SW 59 Street and S Western Avenue.
The woman, 21, was working about 10:30 a.m. at the store when the man walked in. He asked for help getting a ride to NW 10 and N Portland Avenue. She told police she took him to a table and sat with him before going back to continue working.
He next pointed a handgun at her and ordered her into the restroom, where he raped her, she told police. He then stole her car, she said.
About 11:30 a.m., police responded to reports of a car crashing into a tree near SW 40 Place and S Brookline Avenue. The car involved was the victim's, and a man seen running from the car matched the description of the rapist, police said.
Murphy was arrested on complaints of rape, forcible sodomy, robbery by force or fear and larceny of an automobile. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Sunday; his bail had not been set as of Tuesday, a jail official said.
