Big Lots opens new Yukon store
YUKON — Big Lots will celebrate the grand opening of a new, 22,104 square-foot store at Yukon Village Shopping Center, 1630 Garth Brooks Blvd. As part of the grand opening celebration, Big Lots will make a $1,500 donation to Yukon Middle School during its ribbon-cutting ceremony 9 a.m. Aug. 15. The new store will replace the Big Lots at 1155 Garth Brooks Blvd. in Yukon.
Blood donors could win a car
Bob Moore Auto Group dealerships will give blood donors the chance to win a 2014 Ford Fiesta as part of an Oklahoma Blood Institute blood drive from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Five finalists will be chosen from donors at three Bob Moore Auto Group locations. The odds of winning are expected to be about one in 1,000, depending on how many donate blood. Participants can donate blood at Bob Moore Subaru, east side of Broadway Extension, south of Memorial Road.; Bob Moore Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of OKC, Northwest Expressway, west of Rockwell Ave., and Bob Moore Ford, Interstate 35 and SE 89 Street. Pizza and other refreshments will be served. Each donor will receive a voucher good for two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo and a T-shirt.
Painting with a Twist will open
Oklahoma City husband and wife Kimberly and Casey Wells will open Oklahoma’s first Painting with a Twist studio Aug. 14, where customers can paint a picture while having a glass of wine. Painting with a Twist of Oklahoma City, 9217 N Pennsylvania Ave., is part of a national franchise that provides guests art classes as well as wine and beer. Led by local art instructors, guests paint on bare 16-inch by 20-inch canvases using paint and brushes provided by the studio. The new Oklahoma City location will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and during scheduled class times.
Coca-Cola fires are investigated
MEXICO CITY — Coca-Cola’s largest Mexican bottler says it had received threats before attackers burned four of its delivery trucks in an area of southern Mexico known for drug gang turf battles. The Femsa company said in a statement late Tuesday that it closed a distribution plant in the southern state of Guerrero last Wednesday after receiving threats. The Guerrero state prosecutor’s office said the motive in the attack in the township of Arcelia is under investigation.
