Block party set for Midtown

James E. McNellie’s Public House will tap a special keg of Mustang Brewery’s Rocket Fuel at 6 p.m. Friday as part of a block party from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Midtown Plaza Court building, NW 10 and Walker Avenue. Desmond Mason, artist and former NBA player, will open his new studio in the Plaza Court building for the event. The newly opened Ambassador Hotel at 1200 N Walker will offer special tours, and the hotel restaurant and rooftop O Bar will be open. Attendees can enter to win a free, one-night stay. Also during the event, STASH will have door prizes donated by McNellie’s Pub House and will serve bites and beverages. Dry/Shop Blow-Dry Bar and Boutique will offer drawings, giveaways, special discounts, snacks and wine. Waffle Champion will offer signature chicken and waffles along with wine and beer.

Embroidery shop opens in Yukon

EmbroidMe, the world’s largest embroidery franchise, has a new store at 1217A Garth Brooks Blvd. under the ownership of local resident Willie Girlinghouse. The Yukon shop will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
