EDMOND — A retired Edmond firefighter was sentenced to serve 12 months and a day in prison for possession of child pornography.
Micah Dwight Weaver was fined $18,716 and sentenced Friday in federal court in
Oklahoma City to five years of supervised release.
Weaver, 40, admitted in June to downloading child pornography from the Internet.
Using the online name Okieboy6999, Weaver shared multiple images of child pornography with undercover
FBI agents on three occasions, according to court documents.
Judge Timothy DeGiusti said he imposed a sentence below the advisory guideline range of 46 to 57 months in part because of the number of letters supporting Weaver and because of his work as a firefighter in Edmond and Chandler.
Weaver joined the
Edmond Fire Department in 2000 and retired as a major.
"This is a man who has really committed his life to public service and has done a lot of good in the community and for others. (The sentence) has to be viewed in the context of your life,” DeGiusti told Weaver during sentencing.
Weaver’s attorney
Robert Manchester said he agreed with the judge in the sentence and was happy for his client and his family.
Weaver is to report to the Bureau of Prisons on Dec. 3.
