The
three brothers stirred up a frenzy of shrieking teens, tweens and pretweens
with their mere presence, my own 14-year-old daughter, Amber Gillmore
included. She is usually too-cool-for-school, emo-ing out to Fall Out Boy
and Panic At The Disco style artists but Tuesday night, she shed her
inhibitions and joined the "Jo-Bro" mania with the passion and complete
abandon only a 14-year-old can muster.
So, since she is a devoted fan, a good writer (she wrote great reviews of
the Fall Out Boy concert last fall and the new Harry Potter book and movie
last summer), and my willing slave for supplying her with close up, free
concert review tickets, I will turn over the keyboard to her so that she can
enlighten you with her take on the biggest Oklahoma City concert event of
the summer.
Hello again! That's right, I'm back, this time with my take on
Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato! I was so excited when my mom asked me if I'd
like to not only go to the Jonas Brothers show, but if I'd like to go for
free and write a review. I thought, 'DUH! Of course I'll do it!' So here it
is.
First, opening act Demi Lovato ate up the stage with her angelic voice,
heart-felt lyrics, and moves only a true rocker can produce. She danced
around as if she owned the stage, and managed to win over pretty much
everyone in the audience. Some of her best songs were "That's How You Know,"
and "2 Worlds." And when she dedicated the song "Forget" to everyone who's
been forgotten by the one they loved, I'm sure she touched many hearts.
When Lovato finished her set with the song "Get Back," she made sure that
not a soul in the house--at least under age 20--wasn't amped for Jonas
Brothers.
In between Lovato's set and Jonas Brothers', Jumbotrons (a.k.a. gigantic
video screens) flashed text messages from die-hard JoBro fans. Every couple
of texts, there'd be one saying something like "Marry Me, Joe!" or "Scream
if U Love JB!! " The screaming was fun the first few times, but let me tell
you, I'll never hear properly again. But it was oh, so worth it.
Finally! It was time for brothers Kevin Jonas, 20, Joe Jonas, 18, and Nick
Jonas, 15, to take stage! A cacophony of eardrum-shattering, floor-shaking
screams and shrieks echoed through The Ford Center as the Jonas Brothers
rose through the stage floor on a giant platform. Beginning their set with
"That's Just The Way We Roll," the band sounded amazing from the start. A
beautiful 8-piece string section accompanied them on many of their tunes,
including "Shelf," "BB Good," and "Hello Beautiful."
About halfway through the 21-song set, Nick rose from center stage seated at
a white Baldwin grand piano and sung the heart-breakingly beautiful song "A
Little Bit Longer" which he wrote about his struggle when life threw an
unexpected curve ball at him a few years ago. During soft piano solos, he
told his story of being diagnosed with type-1 Diabetes in 2005.
"When I was in the hospital that night, I made a promise to myself not to
let it slow me down. And let me tell you, it hasn't," he said. I almost
started crying right there, the song was so beautiful and sad.
Demi Lovato returned to the stage, joining the brothers for "This Is Me," a
song from the movie, Camp Rock.
Throughout the show, balls of flame burst from the stage, nearly scorching
our eyebrows! Fireworks exploded from all angles as the Brothers danced and
sang their way up the 40-foot catwalk. At one point, the brothers grabbed
what looked like t-shirt guns and sprayed the front sections with white
confetti-looking foam. They performed some pretty impressive acrobatics and
made sure to take opportunities to reach out and touch their fans when they
weren't towering above them, perched on 20-foot high platforms that slowly
lifted them skyward.
Most of the songs they played were from their newest album, "A Little Bit
Longer," which is set to officially debut August 12: "Video Girl," "Love
Bug," and of course, "A Little Bit Longer," just to name a few.
After about an hour and a half, JB wrapped up with an excited rendition of
"Burnin' Up," and a finished off with a bang of even more pyrotechnics and
lasers. Much to the joy of their fans, the Brothers rocked an encore of
"When You Look Me In The Eyes" and "S.O.S."
I thought Jonas Brothers were absolutely fantastic. Yes, they're a bit of a
diversion from my usual choice of music, but I thoroughly enjoyed every bit
of their set.

I was in section 330 and I thought they were AMAZING!!!!!!!!! They are my inspiration in life to write music and to sing. Nick was AMAZING!!! His song he wrote was WONDERFUL! I knew all the words to it already. They were amazing and hope they come back again!!!!
Why do you care "Tu" ... you looking? Get a life and a job. My girls had a great time. They said the concert was a blast. It sounds like the concert was a big success.
