Rezoning for a flower shop and new home on 2.1 acres at 2625 W Danforth Road was recommended with restrictions by the planning commission this week.

Kris and Tammy Kloxin, owners of Designs by Tammy, want to build a new 1,800-square-foot house and renovate a two-story house on the property for their business.

The Kloxins have been in business for 17 years and need to move to a larger location, they said.

“We have four kids and they all work in the flower shop, and Lord willing, we will be there for a while,” Kris Kloxin said.

Planning commissioners recommended the property, west of the Homestead Shopping Center, be rezoned.

Kris Kloxin had already agreed with some of the neighbors not to build a restaurant on the property.

“I'll be living there,” Kris Kloxin said. “I understand there not being a restaurant.”

Planning commissioners went a step further and included in their motion a list of other businesses that cannot be built on the property. The list includes the categories of auto supply, bakery, specialty foods, liquor store, convenience or grocery story, car wash, pet store, pharmacy and musical instrument store.
