Rib injury keeps Ponder from Seminole practices
Published: November 4, 2009
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Bobby Bowden is hoping that his starting quarterback can get back to practice soon as Florida State prepares Saturday's game at Clemson.
Bowden said Wednesday that Christian Ponder did not take part in Monday or Tuesday practices and was limited to a few gentle lobs on the sidelines as he recovers from bruised ribs suffered in last weekend's win over North Carolina State.
Bowden says Ponder, who ranks third nationally in total offense, is still sore. Redshirt freshman E.J. Manuel has been taking practice snaps in Ponder's absence.
However, Bowden says he is still optimisic that Ponder will play Saturday even if he is limited in practice this week.
