Rickie Fowler says he had a 'major kind of year,' even without a major win

If you prescribe to the Ricky Bobby school of thought, Rickie Fowler didn't have a good year on the PGA Tour

But this isn't the movies. The former Oklahoma State golfer was a top five finisher in all four majors, and finished with a better total score in majors than British Open and PGA Championship winner Rory McIlroy.

Fowler posted a chart on his Instagram account on Wednesday that backed his breakthrough season. He was 32-under in majors this season, better than McIllroy's -27.

"I may not have won a major this year but it was major kind of year for me!," Fowler said via Instagram.

It’s been major in the pocketbook as well for Fowler, who's raked in $3.9 million, good for ninth on the PGA Tour money list (Note: Oklahoma City native Jimmy Walker is second on that list).
