RIPLEY — The funeral for a teen killed in a driving accident Wednesday has been set for Sunday, one day before classes begin at the school he would have attended.

Justin Dean Bailey, 13, died when the sport utility vehicle he was driving slid off the road, struck a tree, rolled onto its top and caught fire, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Park Campgrounds in Perkins and will be under the direction of Palmer-Marler Funeral Home.

Ripley Superintendent Kenny Beams said classes are expected to start the next day.

"We’ll try to go ahead and start Monday. We’ve got counselors that will be in place,” he said.

Beams said trauma specialists from Oklahoma State University will be working with teachers to help students cope.

"It’s just hard for me to even imagine the pain (parents) Lisa and Dusty must be going through. It’s hard to get my mind wrapped around that. Enough thoughts and prayers going their way will only speed up the process, I hope.”
