An Inola man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer when he stumbled onto a highway, and an Idabel woman died in a single-vehicle accident, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
•Aaron L. Madewell, 43, InolaMadewell was walking on the shoulder of westbound U.S. 412 about a mile east of Inola about 1:20 p.m. when he began to stumble and fell into the outside lane. He was struck by a toolbox on a tractor-trailer driven by Hediberto Semidey, 50, of Broken Arrow. Semidey attempted to move to the inside lane of the highway to avoid Madewell, according to a patrol report.
•Theresa Colbert, 44, IdabelColbert was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle driving east about 11 a.m. on State Highway 3 west of Broken Bow. The vehicle left the south side of the road and went down an embankment before rolling twice, a patrol report states.
Colbert died at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the vehicle, Janet Lee Pruitt, 46, of Golden, and another passenger, Alberto Cordova, 47, of Bagwell, Texas, also were taken to McCurtain Memorial Hospital before being transferred to a Dallas hospital.
