Lovely lace, supple silk, supremely soft cotton: These are the stuff of lingerie. But don’t get bored.

According to Amber Brooks, store manager and buyer at The Lingerie Store, 7636 N Western, this summer’s lingerie looks bright and colorful. Pops of coral, bright blues, lilacs and yellow liven up lingerie which, just last year, seemed mostly nude and lacking spirit.

The neons and other bright colors are infused in laces and the softest, sheerest fabrics for a twist in this season’s lingerie.

“Things have moved in a sexier direction,” Brooks said. “For several years, we sold predominantly nude molded-cup T-shirt bras. We still sell those, but now people will add on a hot pink or coral lace bra.”

Hanky Panky lace camisoles and boy shorts are a big seller at The Lingerie Store, she said. They’re comfortable to sleep in, and women can wear the lace cami with jeans, skirts, over or under tank tops, or alone, if so daring.

Slinky chemises of silk are another favorite for sleepwear, Brooks said. And even if you just want a pair of button-up jammies, you can still find them in decadent fabrics and elegant styles.

“Our clientele are pretty much open to the sexier stuff and the functional stuff. We pride ourselves on having both options available,” Brooks said.

From silk night shirts to sheer chemises, the key, she said, is comfort.

Manufacturers are making softer fabrics and designs that are more wearable than ever, she said. So, you can look amazing without sacrificing comfort.
