Romney makes brief stop in Pittsburgh

Associated Press Published: November 6, 2012

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is making a brief Election Day stop near Pittsburgh, where he was greeted by hundreds of supporters even though it wasn't advertised as a public event.

Romney's plane stopped just after 3 p.m. Tuesday at a private hanger at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Supporters who had heard about the visit through media reports and friends lined a nearby roadway and the top of a parking garage, holding signs and cheering.

Romney briefly walked over towards the crowd and waved, with his hand over his heart.

Romney's visit to Pennsylvania is his second in three days as he makes a last-ditch effort to erode President Barack Obama's support in a key presidential battleground. Independent polls show Obama leading Pennsylvania. Polls close at 8 p.m.
