Roughtail ready to rock out with new offering

Fans of Roughtail Brewing will have something to look forward to in the new year — a new beer that promises to pair well with Iron Maiden and Anthrax (the band, not the disease).

Say hello to Rock Tzar, a double oatmeal Russian imperial stout:

Roughtail brewmaster Tony Tielli says the brewery is shooting for a late January release on Rock Tsar, but the bottled offering may arrive a little later if the beer takes longer to mature properly.

The beer is expected to check in at 10% ABV and 100 IBUs. Here’s a description from Tielli:

“It will be intensely roasty, with dark chocolate and stone fruit as the prominent malt flavors, with a crushing level of bitterness and a slight alcoholic warmth.  The oatmeal should tie everything together with a nice smooth mouthfeel,” Tielli said.
