Saturday's snowfall wasn't nearly as intense as expected, a blessing for Oklahomans still recovering from a crippling ice storm that left thousands without power for an entire week.

The storm, previously expected to blanket the state in 4 to 6 inches of snow, veered north into Kansas, according to the National Weather Service.

By Saturday evening, snow had diminished for much of the state, leaving accumulations of 2 inches or less in most areas.

A winter advisory remained in effect for much of the state, and motorists were advised to use caution.

Relatively heavy snow was reported early Saturday in northwestern Oklahoma, and the Enid and Ponca City area received some of the heaviest accumulations — up to 4 inches, according to the weather service.
