As the fifth season of “Royal Pains” begins, Hank (Mark Feuerstein) has returned to a full-time work schedule after recovering from major brain surgery which was needed after he was injured in the explosion at Boris’ mansion in last season’s finale.

Also in the first couple of episodes:

Hank treats a nurse who’s trying out her designing skills for a hospital fundraiser and seems to be suffering from exhaustion during the process, but there may be another factor causing her symptoms.

A policeman and his rebellious teen daughter both wind up seeking medical attention by Hank as well, and, Frances Conroy guest stars as a HankMed neighbor with more up her sleeve than an arm injury.

Newlyweds Evan (Paulo Costanzo) and Paige (Brooke D’Orsay) look for a new home of their own, Jeremiah (Ben Shenkman) returns, and another surprise is involved in Divya’s (Reshma Shetty) story line.

This is a satisfactory start for Season Five of “Royal Pains,” which is a nice, breezy staple series for the summer months.

“Royal Pains” debuts its fifth season at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, on USA Network.
