Rudy Owens, RedHawks shut out Fresno

— Starter Rudy Owens and two RedHawks relievers combined on a two-hit shutout as Oklahoma City opened an eight-game road trip with a 6-0 victory at Fresno on Tuesday night.

Owens (7-5) allowed two hits in seven innings with five strikeouts. Jorge De Leon worked the eighth, and Kevin Chapman finished off the shutout.

Carlos Perez hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning, the big blow in the RedHawks’ 12-hit attack.

Grizzlies starter Jason Berken (9-9) took the loss.

The four-game series continues at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday. Right-hander Nick Tropeano (7-5, 3.45 ERA) is scheduled to start for the RedHawks. Edmond Santa Fe product Austin Fleet (10-2, 3.36 ERA) will start for Fresno.
