MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Rudy Owens threw five scoreless innings without allowing a hit, and Jon Singleton delivered a three-run homer as the Oklahoma City RedHawks opened their series in a Memphis with a 6-2 win over the Redbirds at AutoZone Park on Saturday night.
Owens (2-0) left the game after hitting his innings limit at the end of fifth. He did not allow a walk, struck out four and retired 15 of the 16 batters he faced.
Ronny Torreyes had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for OKC. Robbie Grossman also had three hits.
Mike Foltynewicz followed Owens on the mound, allowing five hits and two runs in three innings.
Oscar Taveras homered for Memphis.
The series continues at 1:35 p.m. Sunday. Right-hander Jake Buchanan (1-1, 4.91 ERA) will star for the RedHawks, opposed by Memphis lefty Tim Cooney (3-0, 2.04).
