Williams, a 5-foot-8, 175-pound back who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, is the highest-rated prospect the Cowboys are still pursuing late in the recruiting season.
“I'm just showing some love and I want to make sure nobody sees things the wrong way,” Williams told Rivals. “(Arkansas is) showing love to me and I'm showing love back. I don't believe Arkansas would be a bad fit for me as well. I'm going to check out Arkansas and see how everything is going on over there.
“I don't have any intentions on de-committing or anything, I want to check the place out and basically give back the love they've been showing me.”
Williams was selected to play in last week's U.S. Army All-American Bowl after rushing for 3,884 yards and 48 touchdowns his senior year. He averaged 9.1 yards per carry.
Williams will visit Stillwater on Jan. 27 and will be in Arkansas the week before. Signing Day is Feb. 1.
OSU does not have a running back commitment in its 2012 class. The Cowboys were also pursuing Barry J. Sanders, but he committed to Stanford at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. OSU returns all four running backs that saw playing time in 2011: rising juniors Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith and rising sophomores Herschel Sims, Desmond Roland and Joe Aska.
Here's a look at some other recruits the Cowboys are targeting.
Seth Jacobs, linebacker, Arroyo Grande (Calif.) High School
Jacobs, a four-star prospect, will visit OSU this weekend, according to Rivals. He also has high interest in Arizona State, Arkansas and Oregon, according to Scout. The Cowboys return all three starters and two backups at linebacker and just added Jeremiah Tshimanga, who graduated high school early and enrolled at OSU for the spring semester.
