Salvation Army commissioners to visit central Oklahoma for Palm Sunday

Two of the Salvation Army's highest-ranking members are visiting central Oklahoma this weekend for Palm Sunday services.

Commissioners David and Barbara Jeffrey, who are over the southern territory of the United States, arrived Friday from their home in Atlanta, where the southern territory's corporate headquarters is located.

David Jeffrey will deliver the sermon for Palm Sunday at the Salvation Army's Norman Corps, 318 E Hayes St. The Jeffreys will hold a spiritual rally of Salvation Army members at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Citadel (church) at 2808 SE 44. Morning worship begins at 11 a.m.

David Jeffrey will be given a tour of the land at NW 10 and N Pennsylvania, which has been purchased for the Salvation Army's Central Oklahoma Area Command.

The current command, located on SW 5, will be razed as part of the city's Core to Shore project. In its place will be the central park planned for the area.
