NORMANGary Danielson, who once quarterbacked the Detroit Lions, this week had some serious things to say about the guy who could have been quarterbacking the Detroit Lions.

Sam Bradford. And Slingin’ Sammy’s coach.

Danielson, now a college football analyst for CBS, was a guest on Dan Patrick’s radio show Monday and said Bradford was "crazy” to return to OU for the 2009 season. Then Danielson put the responsibility on Bob Stoops.

"Bob Stoops should have said, ‘Sam, I love you, but ... listen, I can’t live with myself if you got your right shoulder broken or your left knee killed,’ ” Danielson said.

"At some point, he should say, ‘I just don’t feel right about this. Are you sure? Are you sure?’ ”

Stoops, as you might presume, was less than giddy over Danielson’s comments. Ridiculous, insulting and foolish were three quick words uttered by Stoops.

But here’s who ought to be even more offended by Danielson’s theory that Bradford belongs in the NFL: the Bradford three. Sam and his parents, Kent and Martha.

"You think Kent and Martha and Sam Bradford, I’m going to tell them what to do?” Stoops asked Tuesday. "As quality of decisions as Sam has made in his life, am I going to tell him what to do?”

Bradford’s health has become a national hot button. Will his sprained shoulder heal enough for Bradford to quarterback Saturday at Miami? Did the injury, suffered Sept.
