Let's face it sooner fans, Sam took himself out of the game against tejas. He took a sharp hit on a tender spot and decided right then and there that he didn't want to risk it the rest of the year with this O line and this coaching staff. He didn't quit on his team, as some voices grumble, he just didn't want to risk the ultimate prize in his career at this time, in this year, with this team. That's understandable and smart for a young man in his unique position, And you can't blame him for that. I hope and predict he'll come back next year, tougher and more determined, show he's got the durability and pinpoint accuracy to succeed in the pros, and lead OU to another season of greatness along the way.

"I think there is two "paul, yukon" profiles"---No kiddin', "K".

Actually, there's 3 or more. They're comprised of okies who try to emulate me because they're not smart enough to make it on their own....

I think there is two "paul, yukon" profiles because I have one of them blocked and there is another that I can see. There must be two profiles with the same name. I can't believe there is two stupid paul's from yukon.

Craig I dont know your age, but you make some good points. However, you also have holes in your logic. Sam is a great student, Heisman trophy winner. Whatever he has done in his life he has done well. So whether he plays another down of football again it really doesnt matter in the larger picture of life. I dont think Sam went to OU to just play football. Sure big decision to become a local star has lots of appeal. Sam is one of those rare cats that come along every so often that just walk to a different beat than most of us. Sam is going to be fine whether he every plays another down at OU or in the NFL. So what I see your saying is that you would be sick if your kid became a successful shoe store owner or owned and managed a successful resteraunt? What your really saying is that he cost himself millions by coming back. It would be different if it was someone else but as I said this guy is a different cat who will do well at whatever he does.

Then again nobody ever accused Paula from Yukon of have brains either, only that he's a spineless douche, hahahahahahaha, douche bag.
chris, estherville - Oct 19, 2009 at 11:41 pm
Joe, you actually started your take with "Good grief"?
Britton, Edmond - Oct 19, 2009 at 11:06 pm
To be honest, I feel sorry for the kid. I don't see how anyone would give him first round money without playing this year. He wanted the experience and he got it. I get a kick out of the fans who say, "leave the kid alone" or "it was his decision" or "he loves the college experience so much" or "he wants to win a national championship". To those people I ask you, will you remember him in two or three years when the rest of the world has moved on and your attentions are tuned in to whoever is the latest QB hero at OU? Meanwhile, Sammy will have a shoe store or be selling Boomerque or something like that. I would be sick if this was my kid and I had given him the advice to stay another year. There wasn't one good thing that could come out of it. Sam certainly had to know he wasn't going to have an offensive line worth crap. That's right, they are not worth a crap. The defensive linemen should kick the crap out of those turds.
craig, Oklahoma city - Oct 19, 2009 at 11:03 pm
So, what AFL team you boys think is gunna pick up ol' Sammy boy?
jesus lied for you, Heisman Town - Oct 19, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Indeed, better sackless than brainless, Steve. In light of the tragic wit on display in response to my post, perhaps we should rephrase your question to encompass Okies in general? (Naturally, I'd be exempt as I'm most certainly not a part of your god-forsaken, subhuman species.)
jesus lied for you, Heisman Town - Oct 19, 2009 at 10:46 pm
With that offensive line, Sam would be crazy to want to come back. The team is #1 in penalties. This offensive line has had six games to gel and it aint happening so far. If OU scrimmaged ones on ones right now I am afraid Landry would get his head taken off. I thought Colt McCoy was hurt several times with very hard hits. But, give the kid credit, he kept getting up. If Sam or Landry either one took hits like Colt took all day long, they would have been out of the game....obviously....

Steve from Bendover....very funny.
craig, Oklahoma city - Oct 19, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Should every male named Paul from Yukon be castrated to ensure that this human garbage is eliminated from the gene pool?

Then again, this Paul is probably sackless so not to worry...
Steve, Andover - Oct 19, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Don't they make some kind of springs or padding or something that Sam could put in his shoulder pads? When he gets nailed he could bounce right back up and throw the game winning TD...Just sayin'.....
craig, Oklahoma city - Oct 19, 2009 at 10:18 pm
OU may lose more games, but they'll beat OSU. Gundy will never beat OU as head coach.

Really, Lawrence? It's okay to lie to some folks, just not the NCAA? That's your "situational ethics" rising to the top, again.

Sam is overrated. He can use this downtime to reflect on his likely failed NFL career.

This headline came straight from the Department of No F'n Chit.
Louis Friend, Norman - Oct 19, 2009 at 8:59 pm
NCAA has no investigative powers. They rely on truth from interviews. The only real power they have is to bring the hammer hard if they are lied to and its done just to make an example and deliver on a threat. U tell-em lie, U taka U chances.

i agree about jabbing the NCAA - who is going to protect people from them?

I would be surprised to see Sam play anymore this year, but I would not be surprised to see him play next year.
Lawerence, Oklahoma City - Oct 19, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Stoops didn't lie to the NCAA - that is the difference.
Lawerence, Oklahoma City - Oct 19, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Hmmm, yesterday Stoops said it would be determined on Thursday, so he lied. Should we expect the NCAA to suspend him too?

BTW, this was a jab at the NCAA, not at OU, so relax.
Barry, Fort Collins - Oct 19, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Why don't they just come out and admit that he won't be back this year.
Brian, Moore - Oct 19, 2009 at 8:13 pm
I can see the gooners losing at least 3 more games with or without him....

OU sucks.

Norman Sucks.

OU fans suck.

Hey, you OU fans see that OSU won their game the other day, PLUS they jumped UP in the rankings.....what did OU do, anyway?? LOSERS !!

Maybe he should have spent all this time off learning to throw left handed. Now that would be impressive.
