Sam Bradford wins more awards
Published: April 15, 2009
After staying up late Monday evening to receive the Headliner Award, Sam Bradford was up early Tuesday morning for more hardware during OU’s Max Weitzenhoffer Scholar Athlete Breakfast.
The Oklahoma quarterback was one of the recipients of the Athletic Director’s Leadership Award and the Dan Gibbens Outstanding Scholar Athlete of the Year. Sooner track and field athlete Amy Backel also received the same two awards as well as one of the Athletics Council Service Awards. The Conference Medal, the highest career honor given to an OU athlete, went to volleyball player Lacy Barnes and gymnast Jake Messina while the Athletics Council Achievement Awards, which recognize perseverance, went to gymnast Chris Brooks and baseball player Stephen Porlier.
