BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Samford's season is bookended by two games that should be meaningful to coach Pat Sullivan.

The Bulldogs open at TCU, where Sullivan was head coach from 1992-97. They close at his alma mater Auburn, where he won the 1971 Heisman Trophy.

Samford won a share of its first Southern Conference title last season and made it to the FCS playoffs for the first time since 1992.

Samford must replace its two biggest offensive stars, quarterback Andy Summerlin and running back Fabian Truss, from a team that went 8-5.

Arizona State transfer Michael Eubank and Carson Barnett are vying to become the starting quarterback.
