Sampdoria's Poli out for a month with thigh injury

Published: September 18, 2012

ROME (AP) — Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli will be sidelined for a month with a thigh injury.

Poli injured his right thigh in Sunday's victory at Pescara and Sampdoria says tests on Tuesday have ruled him out for about four weeks.

The 22-year-old Poli made his Italy debut in a friendly loss to England last month.

He will miss Sampdoria's Serie A games against Torino, Roma, Napoli and Chievo Verona and is also unavailable for selection for Italy's World Cup qualifying double header against Armenia and Denmark.

Newly-promoted Sampdoria has surpassed all expectations this season, with a perfect start to the campaign.
