SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Mayor Edwin Lee says he's not about to lose a museum filled with George Lucas' art collection and movie memorabilia to another city.
The San Francisco mayor has directed his staff to come up with a list of possible places by the end of May to present the "Star Wars" creator, who is also being courted by Chicago. Lee issued a statement announcing his effort and calling Lucas one of the world's most prominent filmmakers.
In April, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel gave orders to a dozen civic leaders, telling them to find a place in that city for Lucas' interactive museum and collection.
Lucas is married to Chicago businesswoman Mellody Hobson, and the city is considered a possible front runner for the display of his lifetime collection.
