NORMAN — The work of artist Dian Church will be featured at the Santa Fe Depot, 200 S Jones Ave., Tuesday through Aug. 30. An opening reception for her will be from 6 to 9 p.m. July 12.
Church has been a working artist for more than 30 years. She paints in watercolor and with acrylics. Sometimes her work is graphically realistic and sometimes totally abstract.
At the opening reception, Church will demonstrate her unique clay on board technique, with several completed examples included in the show. She has received art education through the University of Tulsa and private workshops. She teaches workshops, demonstrates her techniques and often speaks publicly about her art.
Also at the Santa Fe Depot, poet Robert Ferrier will read from his works at 2 p.m. July 14 as part of the Second Sunday Poetry Reading series. Light refreshments will be served.
Ferrier, a Hugo native, is the author of four published novels available at SynergEbooks.com, Amazon.com and other e-book publishers. His poetry has appeared in publications including “Oklahoma Today,” “The Mid-America Poetry Review” and “Crosstimbers.”
Ferrier was a 2007 nominee for poet laureate of Oklahoma. His books “Rhythms” and “Ambient Light” each won the Oklahoma Writers Federation Inc. award for best published book of poetry.
