Santa visits Oklahoma City Zoo animals

Santa handed out edible holiday presents to the animals at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Discounted admission is available daily for guests who donate an edible wildlife ornament. The $1 admission offer is available through Christmas Eve. The zoo will be closed Christmas Day.

Many holiday events are scheduled at the zoo through December.

Several classes are scheduled this month at the zoo, including winter break day camps Dec. 29 and 30. Camps are from 9 a.m. to noon daily for ages 4 to 11. The cost is $15 for zoo members and $20 for nonmembers. Also, the zoo will offer a class on making gifts for pets from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 20. Participants will make presents for their own pets as well as shelter animals. The class is for ages 6 to 12 and costs $20 for zoo members and $25 for nonmembers. Call 425-0218.

The zoo also has a gift wish tree full of gift tags requesting donations for the animals at the zoo. The Wild Wish Tree has tags requesting enrichment items, which encourage curiosity, play and mental stimulation. Items include paper lunch sacks, unpopped popcorn, perfume and specialty toys. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Dec. 31.
