EDMOND — The children of longtime University of Central Oklahoma football coach and professor Phil Ball have endowed three scholarships in honor of their father.
Ball created the three scholarships at his retirement from UCO in 1993. His son,
Keith Ball, and daughter,
Donna Hirst, have donated the funds needed to fully endow the scholarships.
"Our father had such a deep love for UCO and all that it stands for,” Keith Ball said. "My sister and I wanted to continue his legacy as a coach and teacher by endowing the three scholarships that he founded years ago.”
Ball, who died in 2008, was a former head football coach at UCO. He also taught in what was then known as the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance department.
For more information or to donate to one of the endowed scholarships, call
Judy Reyes-Henderson, development manager for the
UCO College of Education and Professional Studies, at 974-2763
or e-mail jreyeshenderson
