School board chief gets respect
Happy Saturday.
Let’s review some of the events making news in Edmond this week.Advertisement
• Charles Woodham was elected to serve as Edmond School Board president Monday. Mr. Woodham, as I still call him out of respect, was the assistant principal at Pauls Valley High School in 1973 when I was a senior there. He once told me he was offered the principal’s job that paid $13,000 a year. That’s what some people believe teachers should be paid today.
• Congratulations to the students, parents, faculty and administrators at Edmond Santa Fe for having a great Double Wolf Dare Week. Next week is Edmond Memorial’s turn to raise money for The Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Children during their annual Swine Week.
• The University of Central Oklahoma’s annual International Food Festival featured delicacies from China, Europe, India, Iran, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Vietnam. Maybe that’s the key to nations getting along with each other. It’s hard to argue, fuss and fight when your mouth is full of good food.
