School board member dies at meeting

MOUNDS -- A 59-year-old school board member suffered a fatal heart attack during a school board meeting.

Paul Blanchard failed to get up Monday night when the rest of the board started to leave the public meeting area to go into executive session.

Board president Ray Driskell went to Blanchard and sought additional help.

Paramedics were called and cardiopulmonary resuscitation and cardiac defibrillation were attempted.
