School is out on Friday
Students in the Norman School District will be out of classes Friday for a scheduled teacher professional day. Classes resume Monday.

Career Awareness night planned
Moore Norman Technology Center is sponsoring a Career Awareness Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 5 at its Franklin Road Campus, 4701 12th Ave. NW. The free event is for Moore and Norman students in sixth through 12th grades and their families. It encourages students to think about their career plans. Drug, alcohol use topic of forum
Parents Helping Parents of Norman continues its 2009 series of school forums at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Administrative Services Center, 131 S Flood Ave. A panel will discuss "What’s up With Our Youth Regarding Alcohol and Drug Trends.” Parents Helping Parents is a support group for parents who have children with substance abuse problems.
Fifth-graders to sing together
The all-city, fifth-grade choral concert is at 7:30 p.m. today at Lloyd Noble Center, 2900 Jenkins Ave. Tickets are $3; school-aged children are free.
