PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Many schools in Rhode Island are closed and nearly two dozen flights have been canceled at T.F. Green Airport as the state digs out of up to a foot of snow.
The National Weather Service says 12 inches of snow was reported in Glocester, and 11 inches reportedly fell in Woonsocket by Wednesday morning. Ten inches fell in Burrillville, North Providence and Cumberland. Snow was continuing to fall in some places.
Some communities have so far received less snow than had been forecast, with some getting just six inches or less.
Temperatures were in the single digits, with wind chills making it feel below zero.
Schools throughout the state are closed Wednesday.
