YUKON — Yukon will host the Iron Thistle Scottish Heritage Festival celebrating Scottish culture starting Friday at the Kirkpatrick Family Farm, 1001 Garth Brooks Blvd.
The family-oriented celebration includes authentic Scottish dancing, music, food, genealogical searches, merchandise and highland games.
Admission is $5, and children younger than 10 get in free. Parking is available at Yukon Middle School, directly north of the Kirkpatrick property.
The celebration begins at 5 p.m. Friday with the introduction of clans. A Celtic music concert will follow. Black Oak Shillelagh will be in concert starting at 7 p.m., and Scotland Rising will perform at 8 p.m. The concert admission charge will be posted at the gate.
The festival continues 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Entertainers on three stages will present nonstop Celtic music and dancing. Acoustical music will feature bagpipes, guitars, mandolins, pipes and whistles.
