BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota State University women's basketball team didn't make it to the NCAA Tournament this year, but the Jackrabbits will still take part in postseason play.

SDSU hosts Butler on Thursday in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. The winner will take on either Creighton or Missouri, at a location and time to be determined.

SDSU qualified for the WNIT in 2007 and 2008 while completing its transition from the Division II ranks to Division I. The Jackrabbits then made five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Summit League crown.
