Season ends for USD women with WBI semifinal loss

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — The season is over for the University of South Dakota women's basketball team after a loss in the semifinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational.

McNeese State beat the Coyotes 71-63 on Thursday night to advance to Saturday's championship game against Detroit.

USD ends the season 19-16. The Coyotes almost made it to the NCAA tournament — losing to rival South Dakota State in the championship game of the Summit League Tournament.
