The Mariners made the announcement on Thursday. Goldsmith becomes a permanent fixture after the Mariners went two seasons with a rotation of announcers working alongside Rizzs following the death of Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Niehaus. Rizzs will remain the team's lead radio announcer.

Goldsmith spent the 2012 season as the lead broadcaster for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox. Before that, he called games for two seasons with Double-A Frisco in the Texas League. In 2009, Goldsmith worked for Double-A Portland of the Eastern League.
