SEC, Big 12 announce women's basketball challenge Published: June 19, 2014

The Big 12 and the Southeastern Conference announced plans for the formation of a women's basketball challenge beginning in the fall of 2014.

Texas will play Texas A&M, and Oklahoma will face off against Arkansas on Dec. 21 at the Verizon Center in Little Rock, Ark. In 2015, the games will move to Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, with Texas A&M vs. OU and Texas vs. Arkansas.

The Big 12 announced on its website Thursday that the two teams from each league will participate in the initial two years of the challenge in an effort to promote the 2015 SEC Championship in Little Rock, and the 2016 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.
