Second charge to be added against OHP trooper facing DUI

Sequoyah County prosecutors are adding a charge against an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper accused of an on-duty drunken crash that destroyed a patrol boat earlier this month.

Joshua Eli Davies had been charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence July 9 in the wreck. Davies, 33, was on duty the afternoon of July 3 when he crashed his patrol unit, and the patrol boat attached to it, on Applegate Cove Road south of Sallisaw near the Arkansas River, according to court documents.

Sequoyah County First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp said on Thursday that a charge of carrying a firearm while intoxicated — also a misdemeanor — would be added.
