Second 'Wonderboy Serials' volume released in Oklahoma City
Literati Press plans the Oklahoma City release of three new works at Guestroom Records next week.
New books and comics by Charles Martin, Eric Gorman and Mer Whinery will be available. The release party will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Guestroom Records, 3701 N Western. Oklahoma author Martin heads up Literati Press.

Martin, who writes under the pen name “Charles Martin and Will Weinke,” will release the second volume in “The Wonderboy Serials” as a print edition. The book was originally released as a series of online shorts.
“I wanted to pack in as many cliffhangers as I could,” Martin said of his unconventional release plan for the book. Selling e-books “opens you up to the entire world,” Martin said, but “how to rise and get it to their eyeballs is the challenge.”
“The Wonderboy Serials” explores security versus liberty through the lens of a superhero novel, with various chapters taking place from the point of view of different characters.
“A superhero story is really ideal fodder for the cliffhanger pacing of a serial, and making the story a series rather than a stand-alone book gives me the freedom to explore more characters and dark corners,” he said in a previous interview with The Oklahoman. “Cutting it into 60-page increments makes it much more approachable.”
Now, all 12 chapters are also available in two printed books, on sale locally and online at literatipressok.com. Literati Press also has success on the convention circuit, Martin said. Martin and Literati Press attended conventions across the region in 2012.
