TULSA — A 2-month-old boy who was left unattended in an infant swing was attacked and killed Monday by a Labrador puppy, authorities said.

The infant, whose name was not released, was mauled by the puppy and died at the scene, said officer Jason Willingham, police spokesman.

Officers were notified about the attack about 10:30 a.m. The home is in the 2900 block of E 102nd Street South.

Willingham said the infant boy was left unattended in an infant swing and authorities think the child was bitten many times.

The Labrador and another dog were put in a shelter while the investigation continues.

The child's mother and grandmother were at the home but were not in the room during the attack, Willingham said.

The child's body was taken to the medical examiner's office. Police plan to forward their investigation to the district attorney, who will determine whether any criminal charges will be filed in the case.

"It's just a very tragic set of circumstances,” Willingham said.
