A man expecting to spend the weekend with a 15-year-old girl Friday ended up in jail instead.

An investigator with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit began speaking with Kevin Horne, 29, on Thursday via Facebook messaging, Undersheriff Chris West said. The deputy was speaking through a fake profile posing as a 15-year-old girl from Yukon.

Throughout Thursday and early Friday, Horne’s messages became increasingly sexual and eventually moved over to cellphones.

West said Horne indicated in one message if the girl did not come to Seminole to meet him he would drive to Yukon to kidnap her.

“When my deputies told me how sexually explicit Horne’s texts became, and how determined he was to have sex with such a young girl, I told them it was time to go get him,” said Canadian County Sheriff Randall Edwards.

After agreeing to meet with the deputy, Horne was arrested at his home in Seminole Friday afternoon.

West said Horne admitted he intended to have sex with the girl and even bought a new mattress for their weekend together.

Horne was booked into Canadian County jail on a complaint of soliciting sexual contact with a minor through use of technology. He remains there in lieu of $150,000 bail. has disabled the comments for this article.
