Seminole Nation police pursuit ends in wreck, death of driver

A Seminole Nation police pursuit ended Sunday morning when the vehicle being chased wrecked and the driver was killed, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

A pursuit Sunday morning involving the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police ended in a wreck that killed the driver of the pursued vehicle, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The chase ended about 1:40 a.m. on Seminole County Road EW 119 just west of County Road NS 360.

Troopers said the officer had been chasing the car for several miles when it came to the crest of a hill and lost control, rolling several times. The driver was thrown from the car and was run over by the police vehicle.

The driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were in the vehicle being chased, troopers said, and they ran from the scene after the wreck.

The name of the officer involved also has been withheld while troopers continue their investigation pending investigation of the wreck.
